while you should definitely spend your badges on whichever style you're happy with, I'm kinda kicking myself in the ass for spreading my badges out on different types of gear. I spent some on dps, some on resto but mostly tanking. From here on our I'm not spending any more badges on anything other than gear that improves my tank suit until I'm happy with it.
The great thing about the druid is that a lot of our badge gear can be superb for cat or bear depending on how you gem it. Take a look at these templates. I've been referring to them quite a bit when choosing gear. Also notice the dps staff ranks even higher than the earthwarden for tanking.
