I'm still fairly new to this, so take it with a grain of salt.

You cannot, as a Disc priest, focus on your healing output, it won't tell you anything. There is an addon to go with recount that will track absorbs, and skada has it built in. I'm finding that I like
Skada quite a bit more, as the options on what to track are much better without having to d/l anything additionaly.
What ever addons you use for healing should be able to show any type of aggro. This will help with pre-emptive bubbling. For instance, when Lady Deathwisper picks a target to shadow bolt. Perfect time to bubble a dps when you see them light up red real quick.
Both the gear and the playstyles are very different between Disc and Holy. With Disc you have to get in the mind set that you are preventing as much damage being done as you can instead of healing it. You should focus on SP and Int first. (read that as Int and not mana). My priest is seriously gimped when I switch to my Holy spec b/c I don't have jack for regen and I still try to bubble everyone.
Bubble should be the first thing you do, PoM second, flash heal third. I say this B/C Renewed Hope should be up at all times. (the duration is changing to a whole minute in the next patch, unless something changes). You should pre-emptivly bubble instead of doing it when the damage is being taken whenever possible. Bubble the tank before the pull, try and time it so that the first hit the tank will take will break your bubble and you can toss another right away while getting into position.
PoM should be second as it's also a pre-emtive spell and will proc Devine Agis more than it won't with decent gear.
Flash Heal should be used along with Binding Heal to top of dps that have either Weakend Soul or that need to be topped off quickly. The reason Flash Heal is better than renew is for more Devine Agis Procs.
Penance should be used in conjunction with Borrowed Time whenever possible in places that you would use Greater Heal as Holy. Something to note is that Penance does not consume Borrowed Time, so a hasted Penance then a hasted Flash Heal is quite a bit of quick healing.
If there is any down time (everyone is above 91% is where i've been recognizing downtime) and there is a bubble and PoM on your tank and ot, then start bubbling the raid. Every time one of my bubbles break in a 10 man, I get nearly 1200 mana back. Even during Surafang I can usually finish with 80% mana or so after a well timed Fiend and Hymn.
Your other two very strong abilities as Disc are Power Infusion and Pain Suppression.
Pain Suppression I usually save for when I know a tank is about to take a big hit, or when a dps will. (I.E. when someone gets a Mark on Surafang, or when a dps is too close to Marrowgar during transition.)
Power Infusion I will usually give to a dps right before/after bloodlust, or to someone like a Holy Pally/Priest if the fight is lasting a while.
Prayer of Healing and Greater Heal are horrible. They're expensive, slow, and very weak as Disc. If your in a raid with more than one healing priest, try and get in a group by yourself, and where you can stack on top of most of your party memebers. Holy Nova is very cheap, 0 threat, only costs a GCD, and can proc all kinds of Disc goodies. It only works on the people in your party though.../cry.
