Disc PvE

I tinkered a bit and come up with this.
Improved renew is very important. The thing you need to remember about PvE disc, is that you aren't an all around healer anymore. You are a straight shot best in the business tank healer now. Renew is one of the best spells around for keeping running on a tank, and having it heal for more is just lovely.
Inspiration is almost imperative. 25% more armor! Tanks love you and so do other healers.
Improved Healing is nice. 15% less mana on heals, especially with all the efficiency nerfs coming from the next patch will be essential.
I opted to remove aspiration, because only 1 of those abilities is actually useful. Pain Supression is only for "Oh shit!" situations mainly because it reduces threat on the target (probably a tank taking massive damage). That said, it only takes off 2 seconds on Penance... not that big of a loss IMO.
Focused power only gives 4% bonus healing. Not much of a loss when most of your "healing" is done through shields anyway. Also, I've never used Mass Dispel outside of Bear phase of Zul'Jin in a raid.
I would love to pick up Renewed Hope, but without actually playing the spec and knowing it's mana efficency, I feel that Improved Healing is more important.

To be totally honest, I think disc is a terrible waste of a spec. 3.1 is kinda fixing that, but I'm still not 100% convinced.
I think this will be the king PVE disc build for 3.1

Yeah, I just figured that I would try somthing new for a week or so just to see how it works. It really is diffrent from holy. I keep going to my coh place and remember that its not there. I know after HOS last night that the glyph for poh might be needed, I had a hard time keeping everyone alive.
But I have to say I cant wait for duel spec to come out.
And vit how well does penence work for offensive? Or is it just holy fire and smites?

In the interest of providing the guild another healer to hopefully free up some of the current healers to enjoy other things (Tanking/DPSing), had a few questions after last nights ICC.
So far, I've enjoyed Disc the most. Holy can make some things much easier, (the two pulls in POS right after Ick, going up to the tunnel come to mind) I havn't found anything yet that I can't sucessfully heal, and still have mana to burn.
First:
This spec is what I'm using -
Disc
I know that
Desperate Prayer
isn't an ideal talent point, and that finishing off
Improved Renew
would be a better trade off, but with my inexperience to healing raid encounters, and my tendency to stop paying attention to my own health while focusing so intently on everyone elses, that instant cast has saved myself quite a few times.
Things I noticed. It's insanly efficient. The only fight I thought was real hectic as far as healing was Saurfang. And that being said, with proper use of mana CD's (I.E. Shadowfeind at 20%) I finished our succesfull attempt on him with about 90% mana, and never really ran oom.
Darks healing output was astronomically higher, which I'm thinking shouldn't be that big a deal, as most of Disc is preventing damage instead of healing it. But I'm not sure if I was spending too much time Bubbling and not enough healing. I could be wrong but I thought that in order to get the most out of
Rapture
the idea was to have a PW:S up on everyone you could. If I was reading the logs right, my PW:S absorbed over 2.6 Mil damage throughout the raid. As someone who has DPSed thier way through the game so far, I don't know if that's good or bad.
I was of the Mind that Penance is the big heal in the tree, and should be coupled with
Borrowed Time
if possible, and then Flash Heal for any other healing needed. Keep PW:S up as much as possible, and renew if you can expect incoming damage.
Stack SP and INT in general Crit > Haste, for Inpiration and Devine Aegis.
Not sure how much the 3% damage reduction from Renewed Hope helps, but I try to make sure it's up at all times, which isn't hard with a 20 second durration.
-Astro, if you noticed anything I could fix, feel free to let me know.
-Darkzao, if you wander in here and read this, was there anything I was doing that hindered helped you as a pally healer?
And if anyone else has any tips/tricks/suggestions, fire away.

One thing I noticed as Disc, is that Borrowed Time effects Penance, but it DOES NOT consume it! That means if you use Penance right after a shield, you get twice the use of the Borrowed Time that you would have otherwise.
If you don't have one, get a hot or dot tracker and make sure it's configured to keep track of renew. I can't stress how important it is to keep renew always running on the tanks.
I'm not entirely sure if there are benefits to being very proactive with bubble use on dps. It's great for preventing damage, so I can assume it would be good in an aoe situation where Disc lacks the bang of being able to top raids off quickly though.
Renewed hope is mostly useful for the crit chance. Grace is more useful in terms of damage prevention, as one Penance will bring you right up to a 3 stack. I think (not entirely sure though) that the 3% from Renewed Hope doesn't stack with Vigilance or Blessing of Sanctuary, but Grace will override them.
I agree completely with your stat priority. Spell power is more important for disc than holy because of the fact that bubble gets 40% of your spell power in damage absorbed with talents, and more than that normally.
I keep getting an error when I try to look at your spec, so I can't really say much in terms of that. Also, I appreciate that you are willing to try your hand at healing. I'm getting very bored of it again
. For the record, I'm still better than Astro!
EDIT: I played around on Wowhead and came up with this spec:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#bVcbuhhiRhsffRtcxbc
There are 2 points left, and 2 points in Reflective Shields for 4 points that can be added anywhere. I was keeping in mind that this was primarily a raid healing spec, so I neglected the pvp talents and went for Inspiration in the holy tree. I don't know if Inspiration stacks with Grace or Renewed Hope though.

Pom, as Jergen would say "make sure pom is out on every cd". With disc it becomes even better with the agis bubble on crits.
As for output, ya you will be near the bottom. Dark has some crazy numbers and puts me to shame. As far as who to shield that is tough, I would say sheild the tanks and anyone who is taking constant damage and just FH the rest with renews and poms being thrown around.
But on surfang I would just do what jergen told me, shield the guy with the blood crap and then pennance them to get up the 2nd shield, most of the time the other healer can keep up the tank why you are doing this.
stupid jergen, even getting his post in before me... last time I chat in game as well

try this again
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#bVcbuhhVRhsffotcxxcc
Reflective Shield isn't all that usefull in raid, as it doen't make the shield any stronger, and doesn't help with tank threat. The damage it reflects back never felt to be significant outside of aoe grinding for Eternal Fires
i was initailly worried about mana after a comment astro made about running thin on some fights. so i opted out of grace, but after last night, i think i will pick it back up.
I was looking at the mana i was getting back from Rapture, and the amount is insane. alot of it was from bubbling dps before bone storm would start, or when death wisper was charging up a frostbolt at someone.
I use vuhdo and have it set up to track aggro and hots, as well as pom charges, PW:S, grace, inspiration and weakend soul. i could prolly use Renew more, but it seems so much weaker as disc, and there's too much benifit from getting a bubble up instead of renew. if i have the down time, and i'm not tight for GCD's, ill toss renew on anyone taking damage/tanks to allow more of a buffer if something goes crazy. Helps when you don't have strong party heals.
Didn't mention PoM. Prolly cause I'm of the mind that if your leaving it on cooldown, and your not casting something else, you should choke yourself out. That spell is way too powerful to not abuse.
PW:S and penance was prolly the best/easiest way to keep some one up when they got Mark or Blood Boil on saurfang.
I havn't seen Penance not consuming Borrowed Time. I have Tell Me When set up to track it, so maybe it's not doing so right. I will have to double check this, and get back to you, in case they changed it.

I haven't actually been disc for a while, so they may have changed Penance to consume BT, or simply not use it at all (which wouldn't make sense.)
After quickly glancing over the EJ priest forums, I noticed that Grace only effects one target, and there was a lot of debate on if you should grab more than 1 point in it since with 2 points if would switch the target from the tank anytime you healed someone else.
Improved healing is definitely a worthwhile talent, and as you said, Reflective shield is worthless. The thing with Divine fury, is to think of how often you actually sit down and cast a Gheal. I rarely do it even with serendipity. I would personally only use as many points there as needed to get Inspiration and then Improved healing, and dump the others in Grace, and that would be a very good raid Disc build.

Update here...
The
Glyph of Power Word: Shield
has been given the ability to proc
Divine Aegis
. Which doesn't create much of an Aegis on it's own, but can help with stacking it to the cap...
