Shamelessly stolen from MDB's forums.

Quit freakin' passing on the ridiculously high quality one-handers.  There are DK's out there who are ALREADY doing more that 5k dps dual-wielding.  We freakin' DE'd four one-handers from Naxx 25 last night, cuz you guys don't do your homework.  Wake up!

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=13723442317&sid=1

Spec:

Other possible specs:

http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?deathknight=0000000000000000000000000003200535030502012301005101350230210305003110000000000000000

Slow main hand, fast offhand...but don't sac a slower high quality offhand for a shitty fast offhand.

Well, I have no argument against DW anymore. I tested the Tri-Spec and the Frost/Unholy build this guy used. Tri-Spec was sustained 1750 DPS on the target dummy. Frost Unholy was 2350. Keep in mind this is in my level 75 uninitiated blues and I have the wrong runes one of my weapons. Idealy you would use a fast OH with Razorice and a slow MH with Cinderglacier.

The only thing I feel the need to require with that kind of spec is special hit cap (or 11% spell hit, whichever comes later).

These numbers were found using the KotEB and WA reputation weapons.

Rotation: IT, PS, HB, BS, BS, IT, PS, HB, IT, IT. Throw Gargoyle after the two Blood Strikes, DC otherwise.

By special hit cap I meant the 9% cap for main hand strikes. I'm not entirely sure whether or not the 3% hit from the second tier frost talent applies to that or not.

Oh, I forgot to mention that you can switch the Razorice on the off-hand to Fallen Crusader or Lichbane or whatever. However, the 5% frost damage is awesome for both yourself and any frost mages you may have.

In 3.0.8 they are removing the cooldown on Howling Blast so the rotation would change to something like IT, PS, BS, BS, HB, HB, HB, HB with runic power dumps as needed. You would also need to switch the spec around a bit to pick up Epidemic, though.

Glyph of Icy Touch becomes even more awesome because it no longer reduces the damage donw by IT by 10%. Glyph of Ghouls is more awesome, too. I don't remember what my third major usually is, perhaps Plague Strike or something. I'll check when I get home in a few days.

been tryin this out with rune of the fallen crusader on my MH and cinderglacier on my OH. tried slow MH and fast OH, but i seem to put out the same dps as when i use fast MH fast OH, but that will just be till i get a good slow MH weapon. either way my dps went up close to 500-800 and i too know that they are removing the CD to howling blast and eagerly await it  Banana i find though the 500ap boost from fallen crusader a little hard to pass up atm but am still experimenting with all kinds of specs for the moment.

oh, and in that wws, sooo many people doing 4k+ dps.......crazy

Yeah, they're pretty geared in the 5.8k dps one, almost all the DK's gear is from Naxx10 or heroics though.

The reason for the Slow/Fast weapons is strike damage and Blood-Caked Blade damage is based on the MH damage, I stick Cinderglacier on the MH because it works for two spells whereas Razorice on the faster OH (generally 1.5-1.7 speed) keeps it from falling off the target. If you switch to Fallen Crusader I suppose you could stick Cinderglacier or Razorice on the fast and Fallen Crusader on the slow, it all depends on the proc rate of Fallen Crusader. I need to do some testing when I get home.

the reason i prefer crusader to razorice is that the debuff only stacks on your current target, while the buff from crusader applies to every mob you hit

ok so i finally got 2 epic weps and decided to try this DW spec out.  i am not really sure if i like it.  i don't really see 2 different rotations for aoe and single target.  which i don't like.

for single target i am using:  PS-IT-HB-BS-BS-DC-DC repeat

and for multi target i am using: PS-IT-HB-Pest-BB-DC-DC

i am pulling some really good DPS.  2.8k in WG Vaults

but i really enjoy the Unholy spec.  so this is what i am going to do.  i will keep it until after tomorrows raid.  and unless my dps is redicuslly  greater than my other spec i will prolly switch back.

if i am doing something wrong let me know.  but after playing with it this is what i saw.

if you get a chance take alook at my spec and gear.

IT-PS-BS-BS-HB-DC(Garg)
IT-PS-HB-IT-IT-DC

Ends up being better than that for single target. If you're still DW spec you may want to give that a shot.

Your gear looks fine from what the armory shows.

Can anyone verify the amount of Hit needed for the DW build? I've heard some sites reporting the normal 296 while others are advocating 350+.

Yeah...I think they changed the way Killing Machine procs. From my understanding...it is no longer a proc based on how many hits you do...but based on a straight proc per minute ratio. With that being said...hitting with your off hand becomes less important than it did in the past. The main advantage in the past was to get your offhand to hit as much as possible to proc the Killing Machine buff. Now that it is a straight PPM ratio...haste actually becomes more important as that can actually affect the PPM ratio. At least that is what was being brought up on the Elitist Jerks forums. Most of the people who were posting there were saying that a Hit rating of around 350 is more than sufficient for dual wield specs. That's where my hit is right now...but I may drop it down to the 296 point to see if it affects my dps any.

yeah im not sure.  but the 918 rating is the hit CAP for DW. just so you never miss. but when it comes to KM i am not sure.  i am not a fan of the DW spec after i tried it.  now i only use DW for tanking.  and so that stuff dosn't matter as much.

deep unholy FTW!!

Yeah...I was skeptical at first as well...but after seeing post after post of people with the DW spec pushing over 5.7k dps in Naxx...I decided to give it a whirl. I had gotten bored of Unholy & Blood dps is just not there yet...even after the patch. I figured I would give DW a try & if that failed...go to straight tanking.

I was basically near the top of the DPS charts most of the night with two blue rep reward 1handers in 25 man Naxx. I was lucky enough to get the Angry Dread during our 25 man run...and after spending the Loatheb fight leveling my 1h mace from 1 to 400...I was seeing the DW spec open itself up. We followed our 25 man run at the end of the night with a VoA 25 man run...and I found myself at the top of the DPS charts there. I'm still wielding the Fang of Truth from Wyrmrest Accord...so my dps should increase even more once I get a suitable 1 hander to go there.
